DAY 1: MOSCOW

Arrive in Moscow. Transfer from the airport and check into your hotel. The afternoon is at leisure.

 

DAY 2: MOSCOW

Enjoy a city tour of the world renowned underground city with its uniquely decorated palatial stations. After lunch in a local restaurant, visit the famous Tretyakov Gallery, the national treasury of Russian fine art and one of the greatest museums in the world. [B, L]

 

DAY 3: MOSCOW

Start your day with a visit to the world famous Kremlin. See the 15th century cathedrals, bell-tower, Patriarch’s Palace, Grand Kremlin Palace and Armoury Museum, one of the oldest museums in Moscow and home to the Russian Diamond Fund. After lunch, transfer to the luxurious Volga Dream cruise ship to start your journey along the Russian Waterway. Platinum program: after lunch, visit an authentic Cold War Bunker. DAY 4: UGLICH

Arrive in Uglich, a historic town dating back to the 10th century. Walk through the city’s Golden Ring. See the 17th century Chapel of Dimitry, where Ivan the Terrible killed his 10-year old son. Visit Transfiguration Cathedral followed by a choral music concert. [B, L, D]

 

DAY 5: YAROSLAVL

This morning, visit a World Heritage site along the Volga River’s oldest city, Yaroslavl. Visit Yaroslavl’s famous Church of Elijah and the Prophet, and the Transfiguration Cathedral. Stroll through a local market before boarding the cruise ship in time for lunch. [B, L, D]

 

DAY 6: GORITSY

Arrive in the peaceful village of Goritsy and explore the fortress-like Kirillov-Belozersky Monastery, which houses magnificent frescoes created by one of Russia’s most renowned artists. Return to the cruise ship for a late lunch. [B, L, D]

 

DAY 7: KIZHI

This afternoon, explore the picturesque island of Kizhy, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The open-air Museum of Architecture includes the famous Church of the Transfiguration, a unique onion-domed masterpiece that was shaped with axes and assembled without nails. [B, L, D]

 

DAY 8: SVIR RIVER AND THE VILLAGE OF MANDROGI

Enjoy beautiful views as the ship navigates through Svir River towards beautiful Lake Ladoga, Europe’s largest freshwater lake. Visit the traditional Russian village of Mandrogi, the Vodka Museum, a Russian bathhouse and a live village bear. [B, L, D]

 

DAY 9: ST. PETERSBURG

Arrive in St. Petersburg, the city of islands, canals, bridges and majestic palaces. Visit Peter and Paul Fortress, the oldest building in the city. Proceed to the famous Hermitage Museum, the former home of tsars that contains a collection of more than three million works of art and artifacts from all over the world. Platinum program: first visit Peterhof and return to St. Petersburg by hydrofoil. Continue with a city tour and visit St. Isaak Cathedral. Check into your hotel. [B, L, D]

 

Day 10: ST. PETERSBURG

After breakfast, visit Peterhof Palace, St. Petersburg’s most famous and spectacular Imperial estate, also known as the “Versalles of Russia”. Visit an authentic Russian Bathhouse. Stroll through the Lower Park with 176 different fountains, majestic palaces and numerous statues of ancient Gods and heroes. Platinum program: a special early entrance to the Hermitage Museum. In the afternoon, tour the magnificent Yusupov Palace. [B, L]

 

DAY 11: ST. PETERSBURG

This morning, drive to the Tsar’s Village for a specially arranged early entrance to the magnificent Catherine Palace. See the exquisitely restored Amber Room and stroll through the beautiful gardens. Enjoy lunch with vodka tasting at “Podvorie”, a traditional Russian log house restaurant. Platinum program: after lunch, visit the neo-classical Pavlovsk Palace. [B, L,]

 

DAY 12: ST. PETERSBURG

After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your flight home. [B]
