California Coast near Carmel.

With its fine white sand and clear water, this slice of paradise contains a one-mile coastline where you can relax and have fun. Kids have the opportunity to build sand castles, swim in the crystal-clear sea, or splash in the usually tame water.

Carmel Beach is also animal-friendly, and it’s an amazing spot to bring your dogs; along the coast you’ll see owners tossing tennis balls and romping with their furry pals. Note that the weather is not always perfect here, being quite chilly from May to August; however, there are some sunny days mixed in. Fall and winter here are just perfect for family vacations. Parking, especially during summer months and on weekends, can be a challenge, as the official parking lot isn’t that big.
