Four Great Neighborhood Restaurants In Zurich

Four Great Neighborhood Restaurants In Zurich
Breakfast at Kafischnaps, Zürich.

Many first-timers in Zürich arrive with a list of famed restaurants to experience, such as dining at the wood-paneled Kronenhalle for Swiss specialties amidst paintings by Chagall, or enjoying the enormous vegetarian buffet at Hiltl. But to get a real sense of this global hub’s diversity – and its lovely, leafy districts – try these neighborhood favorites.

Kafi Dihei

Spend several hours at Kafi Dihei, a warm, homey spot in District 3 that serves excellent soups, salads, and schnitzel; or try the “Di-High Tea,” with two scones fresh from the oven served with lemon curd and a steaming cup of tea.

Les Halles

The industrial zone turned shopping, art, and trends mecca of Zürich-West keeps growing in popularity, and Les Halles is one of its anchors. Order the much loved moules frites and check out the market inside, which sells produce and more.

Restaurant Josef

For a date night, look no far-ther than Zürich-West’s artsy, intimate Restaurant Josef. The small plates – Swiss-inspired classics with a modern touch (no wurst) – are made to share, and products from Switzerland are noted on the menu with a “CH.” Bar-hop along nearby Lang-strasse to continue the evening.

Vibrant Kafischnaps in District 10 is a great choice any time of day, but especially for breakfast, with baked eggs and hearty, soft Swiss bread. Take the chill off a wintry day with its namesake coffee with schnapps.
