Argentina is a country in South America. It is bordered by Chile in the west, Bolivia and Paraguay in the north, Brazil in the northeast, Uruguay and the South Atlantic Ocean in the east, and the Drake Passage in the south. Its territory is vast and occupies the southeastern part of South American Continent. So, the best way to explore Argentina is to do it in few trips. The country has so much to offer visitors that it is impossible to take in even the most popular and important destinations in one-holiday visit. Of course, you could travel from region to region exploring the beauty and wonders of the country. However, you might also divide your trip into several parts and visit each region at different times of the year. In this case, it would be better to choose each season for specific attractions and certain destinations.
“September to November is the Argentine spring”
September to November is the Argentine spring, which has mild pleasant weather across the continent, warmer in the Northwest with an average temperature around 25°C, and chillier weather in the South, 10°C on average. September and October are perfect months to come to the Peninsula Valdes. This period is ideal for those who love nature and wildlife. During these months, you can see many whales, seals, penguins and sea birds.
Summer (Dec–Feb) is perfect for climbing the highest Andean peaks and for visiting Tierra del Fuego, an archipelago shared by Chile and Argentina at the continent’s southernmost tip. January and February are ideal to visit Patagonia; El Calafate and Bariloche are especially amazing these months. Be aware that this period is highly popular among tourists here, so it is hard to find accommodations. In January, the weather is quite wet in the northwest of Argentina and exceedingly hot in the northeast of the country. Spring is romantic all over the world, but especially in Argentina. Visit Lake District and enjoy wonderful wild flowers. Spring is the perfect time for numerous activities, but be aware that the weather can be slightly rainier in spring than in other months.
Buenos Aires is scorching hot in December and January
It is suggested that you escape the northern parts of the country at this time of year as temperatures are extremely high, and you can experience heavy storms. Autumn (March and April) is a perfect time to explore Mendoza and San Juan provinces, where you can enjoy stunning wine harvests. These months are also great for visiting Patagonia and Tierra del Fuego. When winter comes – in Argentina these are the months of June, July and August – you can head for Andean ski resorts. The north of Argentina has mild weather at this time of year and temperatures should be pleasant, so it is a good time to visit Buenos Aires.
Note, that during national holidays (January, Easter and July) it is very hard to find accommodation since there is a large flow of tourists; room rates are also enormously high.
